It is quite some time since I wrote a blog, so thought now was the perfect occasion to get back into the swing, a little piece entitled an Acet People Easter Carol. I am no modern day Scrooge, simply, this is an opportunity to reflect on the recent past and also to contemplate the future. So if you are sitting comfortably I will begin.
The ghost of training past:
Amazing though it sounds Acet People is now at the end of our first financial year and what a year it has been. A venture into the unknown has turned out to be the most remarkable year. From leaving university I always dreamt of setting up my own business but in reality it was always going to be a dream, the lure of employment and a monthly salary was too strong. Having said that when the opportunity presented itself, with 34 years of sales and management experience as well as 30 years of training delivery behind me, the path was set.
So on reflection, where are we at the start of April 2017? Well, I have met many amazing new people, worked with incredible companies and rekindled a large number of previous and positive relationships – some going back 20 years. I have also learnt new skills, for example blogging and vlogging, and I now understand Twitter and Instagram, well nearly.
Sadly we have not been able to help everyone, but like all service companies we recognise that people do not buy training everyday. The important point is we will be there for you whenever you need us.
Without exception everyone has been very friendly and welcoming, and for those we have worked with this year I hope that we have made positive contribution to your businesses success. At the end of the day that is what Acet People strive to do, we facilitate business success – we aim to make your success a reality.
Over the 10 months we have trained many many people, in many topics, including selling skills, management behaviours, business writing (yes we do that), interviewing, attitude and behaviour as well as recruitment process. I have lost count of the numbers, though with consistently high evaluations and much measurement the evidence shows we have been truly delivered growth through people. Our latest success came from the legendary Acet People: Proactive Calling- Energiser workshop, 2 hours of calling generated 22 client meetings, 9 vacancies and 40 leads – simply amazing.
It is fair to say that not all relationships have gone smoothly. Sadly one had vanished off the scene, my mother used to tell me never try to recreate the past and, as mothers usually are she was right. So after a long relationship and years of dedication I have have truly moved on – to a bright and exciting future.
The ghost of training future:
So where does the ghost of training future tell me we are heading?
Well I have ambitious targets for this year, which I feel are realistic. We are building relationships with new people and new organisations all the time, as well as maintaining our trusted links. We have a range of fantastic customers and addition to this repeat business is starting to happen and one big decision and superb opportunity is on the horizon – keep an eyes out for this one.
The reality is that no one knows the future and we all know success does not happen on its own, to this extent I am very optimistic. There are many people who we have not yet supported and I am looking forward to doing this over the next few months. Rest assured my attitude drives my behaviour and I am determined to put my money where my mouth is and keep my customers at the heart of the Acet People business. Inevitably my success is linked to your success and I promise will do everything I can to make this happen for both of us.
So, in summary what have I learnt and how can this help others?
1. Never reintroduce the past, what is gone is gone
2. Once trust has disappeared from a relationship it is hard if not impossible to get it back
3. Work hard to remove negative and manipulative people from your life
4. Build relationships with like minded people – specifically people you like
5. Help others in the best way you can, to be the best they can
6. Your client’s success leads to your success
7. Put your customers at the heart of everything you do
8. Do not forget about people, proactively maintain links
9. Social media is a wonderful tool – be there consistently
